Candy's Visit and
Christmas Holiday
11 January 2007 - 8:41pm
Hey all
Well the New Year is upon us, so from Charles and I Happy New Year. We hope you
all had a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year. I know we were all pretty
scattered this New Years, but we're definitely looking forward to spending Christmas
and new year in SA this year with most of you.
Well as most of you know Candice came to visit us in the States, and we had an awesome
time. We spent Christmas Eve at home, getting drunk and enjoying eggnog and roast
lamb. On Christmas morning we opened our presents
,
which we all got very spoiled and then headed out on our road trip up to Michigan.
The drive was pretty long (12 hours in total) so we decided to spend 2 nights at
the house of blues hotel in Chicago. We pretty much wined and dined
over Christmas in Chicago visiting many Jazz places and enjoying spectacular views
from the Sears Tower. After 2 nights in Chicago we made our way to the very small
town of Wakefield (North Michigan) - and when I say small I mean small. It reminded
us a lot of the movies. I don't know how those people don't get bored, all they
do is ice fish, ski, snow mobile and drink. Anyway as we got closer to our destination
so the snow started getting thicker and thicker, we have never seen so much snow
in our lives, it was amazing, everything was white. The only problem with the snow
is the driving, pretty scary sliding all over the road. We arrived pretty late at
night, so a glass of wine and early night was in order.
Day 1. December 28th
Well we all decided to take a beginners class as none of us have skied before. Charles
was feeling adventurous and decided to snowboard. Well our first day experience
was one never to be forgotten, Candice swore a lot - never minding the children
around, she blames her recent swearing habits on the men of Manchester. Poor thing
was a bit shaky after the whole experience of skiing, which I don't blame her as
she managedto come off one of the ski lifts and she slid into the safety fence on
her arse, swearing of course and then standing up feeling very nauseas by the whole
thing and decided that was it for the day. Charles well poor Charles managed about
30minutes on the learning hill before falling awkwardly on his arm and then had
to visit the Red Cross. I wouldn't say I was a pro, but lets just say I maintained
and found myself by the end of the holiday, cruising down the slopes with no fear.
Hmmm...I did hit a tree but we will let that one slide.
Our afternoon on day 1 was spent at the hospital, we waited 6 hours for Charles
arm to get x-rayed and when he finally got seen to, the first thing they asked was
"Snowboarder or Skier" The doctors were having great fun ticking off how many snowboarders
and how many skiers had come that day. The competiion was on and lets just say the
snowboarders were cruising ahead. Anyway after Candy and I convincingly told Charles
his arm would be fine, we were proven wrong. Yip you guessed it - Broken
- on his first day. ( Ok and this is when i'm meant to say, he was on a half pipe
doing a inverted flip
)
Day 2. December 29th
My poor Husband spent the day in the cabin watching a James Bond marathon and drinking
whisky to dumb the pain. He felt very sorry for himself and I don't blame him. On
this day we had a blizzard, the snow was pelting down and made it very difficult
so see, but the snow was soft and therefore not too painful when falling over. Candy
decided to brave a slightly bigger slope with me. but a slope that should take 3
min to get down took us 2 hours. Candy gave up taking off her snow boots and walking
the slope, much to her surprise a Red Cross guy came to her rescue and called a
snowmobile to take her back to the top. I have to give her credit for trying and
she really enjoyed the snowmobile stating that, snowmobiling is the way to go. Stuff
this ski business.
Day 3 December 30th
Well we only paid for 3 days on the slopes so this was our last day. Charles ventured
out of the cabin - he came and took photos
and video clipped me going down the mountain. Candy decided that was it for her
and joined Charles at
-
12:00 for pints in the sky bar. I spent half the day skiing but got a bit bored
having to ride the ski lifts on my own. I did meet some interesting people though.
On my last slope I asked Charles and Candice to come and wait for me while I went
down 1 more slope. On our walk to the slope Candice managed to pick up a local
who offered to buy her a beer later on. Of course we could not refuse the offer
and he ended up buying us a pitcher instead. As this was our first real drinking
session of the holiday, we managed to get slightly happy and made friends with the
small town locals. We were invited to their place for a game of poker and free booze.
Well If only we had met them on the 31st.
Day 4 December 31st
New Years Eve.
Hung, Hung, Hung. All of us were like sad pathetic losers. We tried to get over
our hangovers by having a hair of the dog at beer o clock. Got through a couple
of pitchers, still felt ill. Had restaurant reservations, so we ate, and decided
we were too tired for the New Year. Headed back to the cabin watched the running
up hours in Times Square on the TV and then decided we cant be such looers. So we
headed back up to the bar at 10:30, drank ever so slowly, saw in the new year and
headed back at 12:01am and passed out...... when we left the bar the snow was amazing
and even though we did not party hard new year. The scenery and the fun of trying
to get all the snow off our car was enough.
Well the rest of the holiday was spent checking out different resorts and visiting
some small towns. we had a great time and wished you were all there.
Wishing you all the very best for 2007. Missing you all.
Love,
Kerry and Charles

Hey All!
Just a quickie to say that I've added a weather control to the site so that you
can see what the weather is like in our neck of the woods. It's been pretty cold
here lately and there were forecasts of snow for the weekend. Yesterday morning
it was -0.5 degrees Celcius. Brrrrrrrrr!
I plan to have the wedding photos up before the weekend and I will hopefully get
around to changing the password thing when you register. Currently it requires a
symbol (! @ $ # etc) but is throwing an error message about needing a numeric. Anyway,
thanks to all those who have already registered. I will be setting up the auto emails
for blog posts and new albums soon. Don't worry though, you will have an option
to stop them from being sent.
Will hopefully blog again on the weekend. Till then....Ciao!

Okay, so another blog entry but nothing really exciting to say. I'm hoping
to take this blog and new photos live tonight so I thought my time would be best
spent doing that instead of talking gibberish!
Anyway, to all those who we haven't spoken to or contacted in a while....we're sorry.
Things are pretty hectic here and we know that's no excuse. We're hoping this
will be the beginning of a site that will keep us all in touch. Hope you're
all well and love you lots!!!

Hey all and welcome to the first enthralling tale from MySpaceOnThe.Net. Hopefully
this brilliant site with its amazing photo galleries will keep you so busy so I
don't have to do a whole lot of typing over here in the what's up lately section?
Let off the hook? Damn...thought not!
Well, life over here in the U.S of actual A is treating us pretty well. We've
just had the monster-in-law (just joking Nikki - you know I love you) over for a
visit which has been really great. We all went to see
Cirque de Soleil which was absolutely amazing. The tricks some of these
actors got up to was out of this world. I would definitely recommend going
to check them out if they ever came did a show near you! It was well worth
the money spent. The pictures of Mom's visit will be up on the site soon so
please come back and take a look. We will try and get all our photos up here
for everyone to see. It'll be nice to have them all up in one place and accessible
24-7.
So as most of you know I went to Vegas last week. What a brilliant place.
I think it would have been way more fun with Kerry (I hear all you guys saying..."WHAT?!?!?
Are you mad?") but I think it would have. I didn't get to gamble much but
played a couple of games of roulette and ended up with $22 at the end of the week.
Hey...not much but at least I walked out of there with a profit. Not bad for
a place also known as "Lost Wages".
Anyway, the photos will be up shortly. Enjoy!
